Teeth Whitening Uptown Charlotte NC
Whitening your teeth
Having a beautiful smile may be even easier than you think. Many people achieve the look they’ve been dreaming of with some simple whitening.
What are the details of teeth whitening?
Teeth whitening is one of the easiest ways to accomplish a smile makeover. Whitening is a very safe procedure, though temporary sensitivity is a common side effect. There are many products available to counteract the sensitivity. Because dental fillings and crowns will not whiten, any restorative materials on the front teeth may need to be replaced after whitening to ensure an even color throughout the mouth. Because of this, porcelain veneers are sometimes a better option. We will happily provide guidance on a case by case basis.
For confidence in appearance, bleaching technology allows us to promise improvements in yellowing, aging or stained teeth. For very severely stained teeth, crowns or dental veneers may be more appropriate.
How is teeth whitening done?
Key Benefits of Teeth Whitening
- Corrects brown, yellow and spotted tooth staining
- Works on people of any age
- Restores brightness to your smile
- Improves self-esteem
We have several whitening options and can help find the solution that is perfect for you!
We are proud to be providers of GloScience Whitening Technology. This combines the use of a gel and a light to whiten the teeth without sensitivity. In some cases, the change is nothing short of brilliant.
For “at-home” whitening, the teeth can be fitted for Custom Trays. The trays are filled with prescription-strength bleach which is used on a daily basis at home until the teeth reach the desired shade. Most people require about two weeks to get the ideal result, but this varies depending on several factors. We also carry various professional strength Whitening Strips which are “one size fits all” and do not require impressions.
We also offer “White Spot Treatment” for those who have stubborn white or brown spots that don’t seem to blend with the overall shade of the teeth. These are commonly seen after orthodontic brackets are removed. The treatment involves the use of MI Paste Plus, a special milk-derived protein, which releases bio-availble calcium, phosphate and fluoride, allowing the teeth to re-mineralize and blend in color.
Considerations for Teeth Whitening
Results can not be guaranteed. Some teeth can be very resistant to the whitening process. Non-clear liquids and certain foods (ex. red wine, coffee, curry) and smoking are counterproductive to whitening, and certain teeth are just more responsive to the whitening agent than others. But with a little patience and persistence, we are certain we can make a significant improvement in your smile!
All whitening methods will require touch-ups due to different lifestyles and diets. We can discuss what might work best for you when you come in to talk about your options for achieving and maintaining your best smile.
